Water Lily in Red
Sold
This is a watercolor painting, 11" by 14", and I did in June but forgot to post here. In Austin, there is a great botanical garden called Zilker Botanical Gardens. I visit there frequently and especially enjoy the water features. This water lily was growing there. I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for viewing it.

Back from Colorado
I just got back from an 11 day vacation in Colorado. We rented a house on a 400 acre ranch called Trail Creek Ranch. The ranch is about 45 minutes west of Fort Collins, in the mountains. It is available through Vacation Rental By Owner. This was our 4th stay in 8 years. The owners are also artists so it is really interesting to visit their studio on the ranch. We also visited Rocky Mountain National Park for a day. During our vacation, I took over 1,100 digital photos. Most of those were for reference photos for future paintings. I did some sketching, but mostly I studied shadows on trees and clouds coming over the mountains. There was no internet access or TV so in the evenings I spent some time watching Scott Christensen's DVDs on landscape painting. He is such a great artist. Someday I hope to take his workshop.

Pitcher in Mars Red
To bid on this painting, click here.
I just finished this 6"x6" oil painting. I had an extra large tube of Mars Red and I wanted to see if I could develop a still life around that color. I set up the still life in my studio with a background color of something close to that color.
