Finished, it is 15" x 15", oil on museum series panel gessobord. I set up this still life in my studio.  I paint with many layers of glazes.  Each layer takes a long time to dry before I can add another layer.

For this reason, I started working on many paintings at the same time. I am also working on the design for additional paintings.

Colorado Plein Air vacation paintings

Today, I did a little touch up on these two 8"x10" plein air paintings that I painted on location 2 weeks ago when we were in Colorado. The one on the left was at a little pond below our cabin in Breckenridge. The one on the right was done from the porch of our cabin near Salida.

"Saddle Horn" finished

Here is my completed oil painting of an antique saddle horn. This painting is 5" x 7". Now that I have completed two small paintings using a glazing technique, I am ready to do a larger painting. My next subject will be a life-size 1851 Navy Colt Revolver. The revolver is in the collection of the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco, Texas. I was given special permission to examine and photograph this revolver.

Rose study

Yesterday I painted this rose from my garden.  I spent about an hour on it so far. I plan to let it dry and then I will spend a few minutes more to make final touches. It is 6" X 6", oil on a canvas panel. 

Below Jenny Lake, Step 1

This will be my third attempt to paint this scene.  I've scraped the canvas panel twice before because I was not happy with the results.  Hopefully, the third time is a charm.  Jenny Lake, in Grand Teton National Park, is one of my favorite places to visit when I am in Jackson Hole Wyoming.  The lake empties into this little stream. This is an oil painting that is 8" x 10".
